Brisbane to Copeton - Sept. 05

On route to the annual BUSHTRACKER RALLY or BOG Rally (Bushtrackers Owners Group)

Copeton Bay Heights

Clear customs in recored time, having declared all our fly fishing feathers, didn't even want to look at them. Our limo bus from Sky Parking was in transit to pick us up, hooked up the Bushtracker and on the road all within 1-1/2 hours of landing.

Shouldn't have been in such a hurry, it was blowing a gale, the Gateway Bridge speed limit was down to 60k. We had head wind all the way to Toowoomba our first camp.

We found this great block under development just outside of town, so pulled in and camped. Actually a development site we have invested in. This was the first chance to check it out.

Our next camp was Dalveen right on the Queensland and NSW border, great spot and quite.

Arrived at Copeton 1430hrs and set up camp. We had pre-booked our site from a previous visit in the ___ dare I say it, yeah, the Camper Van. As we were camped on the upper level at Copeton Bay, we named our site as "Copeton Bay Heights".

The BT with an undressed skirt, we had a banner made in Thailand for next to nothing. Photo's from our first tour, Silverton and Pammamaroo Lakes near Burke & Wills camp.

Here's the BT all dressed up, yep, Sue's got the cold weather gear on!

Forgot to bring my beer bag, so made some more plus one for Sue's wine glass.

Flying the flags!

It's warmed up and Sue's a bit weary, these Caribee's are super comfortable.

Magic sunrise yet again.

Found some timber planks someone had stashed in the rocks, so claimed them and made some leveling blocks for the BT.

Copeton Bay Heights!

Getting ready for the Cookoff and Spit Roast for the evening catered meal. Next day at the AGM the Markee in the background was completely demolished by a Willy, Willy. More on that later.

Lamb on the Spit!

Copeton Bay Gully

Every one waiting for the cook off, camp oven recipies.

Looking good so far.

The finger test and good poke!

Sue and Margaret sharing a laugh.

Jackie ready to cut her master piece!

And the WINNER!!

Someone has to do all the work, backfilling the fire holes.

The HACKER!

Tony the CARVER, every one got some pork.

Not much left after Tony finished CARVING!

Entertainment provided by some locals from Inverell. The bush poet was great.

Some of the BOGGERS enjoying the entertainment.

Every one's fed and watered. The couple on the right next to Sue, Eric & Ursala we kept bumping into in every town to Charter's Towers. They were heading to Cairn's after the Rally.

The aftermath of the WILLY, WILLY. Every one was under the tent for the AGM when it was literally ripped out of the ground. It was sure lucky no one was killed, the size of the tent pegs.

Check out Nick the guy in grey shirt and jeans centre left in photo and the size of the tent peg ripped out of the ground. The markee was douple pegged to boot.

AGM continued without the Markee.

Di was the only injury when a tent pole hit her, a black eye.

Keeping warm.

Keeping warmer around the washing machine. Yep. it's the tumbler from a washing machine, makes a great fire holder and let's out the heat.

Tex has his own chair and was guarding the tucker.

Spit roast left overs Tex was guarding, good dog!

Feed the men meat!

The BONE lady, no pickings for Tex here.

Sam with all his friends!!

Relaxed!
